By Chris

In the handheld console market, it’s fair to say Sony is now leading the race. According to our sources, the Japanese company is working on the next PlayStation handheld. Catch what we can expect from this product below!

What’s new?

Until now, Sony is still dominating the gaming console world with their PSP and PS Vita. In 2023, it looks like they are trying to enter the portable gaming hardware market again. Based on the latest report, they have begun the testing phase for a new product under the name PlayStation Q Lite. From what we have learnt, this is a PlayStation 5 DualSense controller.

It has a large 8-inch LCD screen located in the middle with support for 1080p resolution at 60fps. However, this device can only work with Sony’s PlayStation Remote Play. Moreover, you can easily stream any PS5 games on it. But you will need a stable network for it. Regarding the other cloud-based gaming platforms, the brand hasn’t hinted about any compatibilities.

On the other hand, this new handset should work similarly as the Nintendo Wii U GamePad. It can connect to the Wii U via a modified low-latency Wi-Fi protocol. With this feature, you can play all games on the small screen whenever you connect to the same network as the other console. The new Project Q Lite also packs other components like adaptive triggers, speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack, and the usual volume buttons.

Launch date

We can expect Sony to reveal more details on this handheld device in the upcoming month. Moreover, the release date of this product can follow the launch of the PS5. Did you know that this new PS5 comes with a detachable disc drive? Let’s stay tuned for its debut in September this year. Last but not least, keep an eye out for the arrival of the PlayStation 5 Pro in late 2024.
